In addition to making a cool visual on my windowsill, they serve as reminders and symbols of the West Coast, where I grew up, and my love of cars, driving and road trips. Once I put one on my car here in Queens, but it got stolen pretty quickly.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;

I wasn’t on duty, but I arrived just in time to put on a set of bunker gear and an oxygen tank and help my mom down a fire escape while my dad was rescued with a firetruck’s ladder. Instead of fighting that fire, I felt the agony and loss of being a victim, and being able to save these and other priceless family photos helped tremendously in the healing process.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

It was a part of a dense salon wall at her house when I was small but she never knew where it came from. She&lt;span&gt; lives near an old whaling town, so I imagine it being made from the hull of the &lt;span&gt;&lt;em&gt;Pequod&lt;/em&gt;.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
